Most of my hair broke off at the scalp - How can I speed up regrowth?

I have hypo-thyroid, I had an aortic valve replacement(St. Jude Metal) and contacted C-diff(a nasty hospital disease caused by too many anti-biotics) Yes, I am glad to be alive but my hair broke off at the scalp and as my daughter said I looked like a Chemo patient. It is coming back but darn its been a year and I want my hair back. Incidentally, my hair was gray when it fell out and what has come back is dark again - how about that!!??
